Peppermint

Mint, Mentha, is actually the name for over a dozen plant species, like peppermint & spearmint, Mojito mint & even Canada mint, that are in the Lamiaceae family.

Peppermint, we all know for its minty taste used in gum, candies, toothpaste & tea but it has so many amazing uses. It's a great aromatherapy to alleviate nausea, works well as a natural insecticide, it's helpful to ease and support digestive disorders associated with pain, spasms, gas or cramps. Can be useful for the liver or used as a muscle relaxant for IBS. The oils in some mints are effective against a range of bacterial, viral, & fugal infections, colds, flu and congestion. The list goes on!

1 - 2 tsp dried herb in 1 cup boiling water, steep covered for 15 - 20 mins. (or 5 mins for a light tea)

Peppermint’s high essential oil content makes it unsafe to use in high amounts during pregnancy or for babies and young children. Peppermint may reduce milk flow in nursing parents. People with GERD may find that peppermint makes their condition worse. Always seek the guidance of a healthcare practitioner before mixing herbs with medications.
